Dear Friends, By now you have probably seen and heard a
lot campaign commercials and have had just about reached the limits of
your endurance. But we ask you to take just a few more moments of your
time to read about what is at stake in Tuesday's election because it
will have a profound impact on the future of every taxpayer.
No 15-second advertisement, campaign flier or 60-second pre-recorded
telephone message can adequately explain why it is so important that
you vote on Tuesday. We know many of you have lost faith in
the honesty, integrity and willingness of candidates for public office
to pay more attention to your needs than their own or to do what must
be done to fix everything that's broken in New Jersey. After all the
broken campaign promises, scandals and corrupt politicians sent to
prison in the past two years, you may be thinking "all politicians are
the same" so why bother voting. That is why we have been
trying so hard during this campaign to prove there still are candidates
who believe in keeping their word to the voters and giving people the
power to hold them accountable if they fail. We have a
comprehensive reform agenda that will permanently lower property tax
bills, restore fiscal responsibility and put a stop to the pervasive
government corruption that has festered during six years of Democrat
rule in the State House. Our plan is backed by a pledge to give people
the power to hold politicians accountable through easier recall
procedures. This election will determine whether we move
forward and make New Jersey affordable again or allow it to sink deeper
into the financial abyss created by the Democrats and from which there
may be no way out, if the Democrats continue to have their way. There are stark differences between our opponents and us.
Democrats brought shame and scandal to New Jersey. Yet they refuse to
consider real ethics reforms or any tough new laws to fight political
corruption. Their fiscal record is abysmal. In just six years,
the Democrats have raised taxes 94 times. They have taken $6 billion
more out of your pockets, doubled state spending, more than doubled the
state debt, allowed property taxes to increase nearly 40 percent, and
wasted billions of dollars on pork projects for their friends and
shockingly, in some cases, even their families. Now they have
a reckless asset monetization scheme that will cost the taxpayers an
estimated $25 billion and you to pay higher tolls and taxes for decades
to come! What we are offering is hope and a promise to end the
exodus of middle class families from New Jersey by making our once
great state an affordable place to live again. Our agenda for
change includes a plan to permanently lower property taxes by 30
percent for seniors and households earning less than $200,000. All
other homeowners would see their property tax bills reduced by 20
percent. This tax cut could never be reduced, but it could be increased
in the future. And it will not require a tax increase, like the
one-cent rise in the state sales tax imposed by Whelan and the
Democrats last year. No gimmicky rebates that are here one
year and gone the next – just enduring property tax relief that could
save the average taxpayer in the 2nd Legislative District as much as
$2,300 a year off their property tax bill. We have outlined a
specific plan to cut one billion dollars in waste and unnecessary
spending from the state budget. In addition, we support reform
initiatives that would make it harder to raise taxes in the future and
require a public vote on all new state debt. Another major
component of our agenda for change is a Blueprint for a Corrupt-Free
New Jersey, which includes a top-to-bottom ban on the nefarious
practice known as pay-to-play, an end to wheeling and suspending
indicted public officials without pay. Government reform, fiscal reform, ethics reform – this is what we stand for and they are core principles for our ticket.
There is a choice for change in New Jersey, and you can make it by
casting your ballot for the Team for Change on Tuesday. Thank you. Sincerely, Sonny McCullough John Amodeo Vince Polistina
